Beaches of PEI Google Maps API

I added a Map to my Beaches of PEI page last night. There are many ways to add a map to your website. The Beaches of PEI map I developed yesterday is powered by Google Maps,Google map search is powered by Google AdSense, I developed the code using Google Code Playground.

Another site that has useful tools for creating map is mapchannels.com/ I played around with this or a while and was able to get a functioning map before being inspired to try creating one from scratch right from the source.

  • If you want a map similar to this on your website there are plenty of resources online to do it yourself however if you prefer to hire somebody to set it up and teach you how to update it, contact me for a quote.
  • If you are trying to create a map on your own using the tools mentioned and need some help, have any additional tips, or just want to leave a comment, feel free to comment to this post.

Creating a div with curved borders that have a transparent background using .png files and CSS.

The other day I had an idea to have a div with curved and decorated borders that also had a transparent background. usually I do not have to reinvent the wheel I just find an example script somebody else has developed and shared under a GPL etc.

I was unable to find an example of what I was looking for, although I did try and modify for my own use the following examples:

1. http://www.webcredible.co.uk/user-friendly-resources/css/css-round-corners-borders.shtml

- this one requires the corner images to have a background that is not transparent.

2. http://www.ruzee.com/files/shadedborder/test.html

- this one requires javascript, which I did not want to have to use, and the inside of the div has to be filled in as well.

I was unsuccessful with these so I decided to make my own. I probably did get a few ideas from these sites however, so that is why I am referencing them here as a source of inspiration.

Here is the source that helped solve the puzzle. The comment by: hizuka007 on this site
